Check valve knowledge

Check valve: A valve that automatically prevents fluid from flowing backwards. The valve flap opens under fluid pressure. When the inlet side pressure is lower than the outlet side, the flap is automatically closed under the influence of the fluid pressure difference, its own gravity, etc., to prevent the fluid from flowing backward.

Check valves: generally divided into lift type, pendulum type, butterfly type and diaphragm type.

Check valves often fail when:
1 flap damage;
2 medium reflux.

The reason for the fail is that the medium pressure approaches equilibrium at the inlet and outlet.  The flap is usually tapped to the seat.
